Another view of Omaha Beach as the afternoon clouds started to roll in. Living in France has helped history come more to life for me. In the United States we learn about past Wars but there are very few physical reminders of the events that took place in these wars (at least where I have lived). However, in France, streets are named after horrific events to commemorate the lives lost there, newly constructed cities are evidence of the destruction that took place, and peaceful beaches like this one have plaques telling us about how on D-Day the ocean was red with blood.
