Padre Ramos, Nicaragua

For the month I was in Padre Ramos we stayed at a ranch right on a beautiful strip of beach. We spent many evenings on this sand watching locals play soccer when the tide went out, swimming in the waves, and looking for purple seashells.

We are all spending a lot more time at home this year. Rather than being disappointed about missed opportunities, I am painting this series of watercolor landscapes as a reflection on past road trips, weekend getaways, and seasons of life when we were able to travel freely. For the month of November, I am committing (to myself mostly) to paint one watercolor landscape a day. Each painting is from one of my photographs taken while traveling. It has me feeling very nostalgic for more simple times but also grateful for past adventures, which is why I am titling this collection Looking Past Nostalgia.
