Another view of the beautiful architecture of Paris framed by a stone bridge. There is a reason so many artists lived and still live in Paris and France as a whole. There is truly something magical about the sunlight here. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is, the lighting is gorgeous. It can be gloomy and cold and it is still beautiful. And when the sun is out with no clouds, it casts beautiful long gray-purple shadows.

We are all spending a lot more time at home this year. Rather than being disappointed about missed opportunities, I am painting this series of watercolor landscapes as a reflection on past road trips, weekend getaways, and seasons of life when we were able to travel freely. For the month of November, I am committing (to myself mostly) to paint one watercolor landscape a day. Each painting is from one of my photographs taken while traveling. It has me feeling very nostalgic for more simple times but also grateful for past adventures, which is why I am titling this collection Looking Past Nostalgia.
