Murren, Switzerland

There is a gorgeous leisurely hike on the side of a mountain from Murren to the valley of Lauterbrunnen Switzerland that we walked down on a gorgeous sunny day. The views as you walk through from village to village are something of another world. The hillside was covered in wildflowers, stacks of fire wood, and quaint little skiing chalets. In the distance are snow covered mountains that soar high into the sky.

We are all spending a lot more time at home this year. Rather than being disappointed about missed opportunities, I am painting this series of watercolor landscapes as a reflection on past road trips, weekend getaways, and seasons of life when we were able to travel freely. For the month of November, I am committing (to myself mostly) to paint one watercolor landscape a day. Each painting is from one of my photographs taken while traveling. It has me feeling very nostalgic for more simple times but also grateful for past adventures, which is why I am titling this collection Looking Past Nostalgia.
